Come on, Irene

Yeah, I know, obvious.  But you must admit, as a child of the 80’s, I had to go there.

We’ve got a lovely backyard, there are flowers, gardens and trees.  Over the years we’ve had numerous trees fall in the yard, especially those pesky and brittle Bradford Pears.  Lovely trees, but so brittle they do little other than grow quickly and break.

At the end of our patio is a little circular area that has long been the spot.  It’s nearly always 10 degrees cooler than anywhere else in the yard, thanks in large part to an enormous pine tree we’ve had back there for ages.  It’s been there for 30 + years.

And now, it is no more.

That’s back on the park side.

I also lost my awesome sunflowers:

Here it is in brighter sunlight:

I am deeply thankful that we lost nothing else besides the tree.  The concrete pad is damaged, but it was already cracked and now it’s more cracked.

So far we’ve talked to Comcast, Park & Planning and Liberty Mutual.

The consensus amoung everyone is that we can’t get it off the wires.  However, once it’s down we can deal with it, no problem.  Easy peasy.

I did find something someone lost in the park, I assume it was blown to this spot.  So, if you lost this item, please come get it.  Pictured below.

Please come pick your crap up, you nasty person.  Sheesh.  Friends with benefits don’t let friends with benefits drop their bodily fluid laden used condoms in a FRICKIN KIDDIE PARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other than that, it’s all good.

On the bright side, the loss of the tree opens up space for a lovely pergola over the circle. Maybe some grape vines to adorn it. And that could lead to homemade wine, or grape jam, or stuffed grape leaves. So, really it’s like a blessing that it fell. 🙂
