Curious as to your view point (I can imagine) because from that video I can glean a couple of things.

I think the Al Awfi watched Casino Royale right before the interview.

Of course, I’ve never thought that GITMO was a bad place. It’s certainly better to give those guys three halal hots and a cot on a tropical island than to a) let them go, b) try them in NYC at the cost of hundreds of millions only to keep them detained forever when they case is inevitably thrown out, c) try them in NYC at the cost of hundreds of millions only to then figure out where/which superMAX prison is going to house them for the rest of their natural lives and spend the insane millions to go through the hundreds of appeals their lawyers will offer.

I agree with you regarding the trials that’s a waste and a slap in the face. These people do not deserve the rights of citizenship especially because they aim to destroy the essence of what makes us citizens. Until Phelps, spoke of military tribunal I thought there was no other option knowing that’s an option I don’t understand why we are not utilizing it. However, I can say that the Saudi rehabilitation program is a highlight even a small one.

Military Tribunals were created for exactly this circumstance. These men, and now soon to be women, do not deserve or rate our rights of citizenship, heck, I won’t even extend them to illegals. I think citizenship is a distinct right given only to those who are born to it or who choose it and go through all the hoops.*

I don’t yet know what to think of the Saudi program. It looks very very lame.

*I actually think that citizenship should be a bit more like the way membership in my church operates. You are not a member by birth or mere attendance. You go through classes, write your statement of faith and then are interviewed by the session and must give proof of your faith. My questioning was 30 minutes plus. No one is an automatic member. You must choose it, then they choose you. I want people to CHOOSE to be Americans. It seems like so many don’t have a clue about the founding, why the kind of government, none of that. So many don’t have a clue of our history. That’s quite disconcerting.

    Okay, rant over.
