Snow Birds and a Hungry Squirrel

Yeah, so, it…ah…snowed a little yesterday.  Before I went to bed the yard stick measured 20 inches on the picnic table.  Just a wee bit of snow.

I took a bunch of bird pictures yesterday, but they all turned out kind of dark.   I still have things to figure out with my awesome RebelRebel.

Heh.  A newscaster just called this storm “Snowmaggedon” and “Snowbama”.  Either is funny.  I like Snowmaggedon best.

These are fantastic! Is that cardinal photoshopped in? Seriously, these are pictures that inspire Christmas cards.

Nope, no photoshopping. They are lovely, it was lovely to watch.

Oh the cardinals!! I haven’t seen one since Texas, and even then they were 100 yards away. Beautiful pics, Vivian.

Hey what kind of camera do you use. I have a Nikon D40 and the pics still don’t come out this clean.

I’ve got a Canon Rebel XSi with an EF-S 18-55mm lense that also does macro. The bird pictures were taken with an EF-s 55-250mm Canon Zoom Lens.

I usually don’t do anything to the pictures because I haven’t been able to afford Photoshop. I’m okay with that. Though I’d like to learn to brighten some of them a little and the color is off in others.

I bought photoshop elements on amazon for $75, but I am just learning it. My sister-in-law, who is much more artistic than I, really likes it. I just use it for my job, which involves embedding captions into photos. Other than that, I’ve only played with it a little. You might check it out, though. My artsy friends and colleagues really dig it.

Vivian Louise, these are indeed, great pictures. I love birds and we generally only have fat little finches filling their bellies, occasional sparrows and woodpeckers. Oh, and our Christmas partridge! What a splendid showing!

Photoshop is expensive but if you to play around with finishes, you can go to Picasa Photo Editing and get their free download. Also, you can download Photoshop for free for 30 days. It’s really worth the fun.
