Ron Paul is an ass.  I like a lot of what he has to say about pure economic theory, but the ookie racism and conspiracy theories that go along with Paul make him unacceptable as a candidate.

Steve Horowitz doesn’t think Paul is a racist.  I do.

Here’s why: Paul profited from these newsletters.  Paul’s name was on the byline.  Paul was the reason these newsletters were published.  These newsletters were Paul’s vehicle to peddle his influence.  That Paul allowed racist thought to be so deeply ingrained into his newsletters is a very clear sign that the racism didn’t bother him.  He did not find it repugnant enough to stop it.  That points to Paul’s own racism.

If Paul isn’t a racist and didn’t pay close attention to what was being published in his own name means something else – he is entirely too stupid and too careless to ever be trusted with the responsibilities of the position of President of the United States.

Since Ron Paul is a doctor, I am assuming he isn’t stupid and does pay attention to detail.  Therefore, I can only conclude that he is a racist. 

Also, Mr. Horowitz, Archie Bunker was a racist too.  That was part of the whole plot, to watch a racist confronted with the humanity of the people he hated.  Holding repugnant values doesn’t necessarily make a person wholly repugnant.  Archie was likable because he learned to value people despite his racism and antisemitism.

This is why Newt Gingrich should NOT be considered for POTUS.  We do not need another 4 years of overblown self aggrandizement and ridiculousness.  He’s so deeply wrong on so many levels in the above analogy and he’s so out of touch with reality that he didn’t instantly see the issue.  After four years of the 4th greatest presidency ever! our country can not handle 4 more years of a self indulgent academic with delusions of significance.

Really doesn’t need a lot of commentary. But…

That woman…”All the workers in NK get paid.” Well, maybe that’s true.  All the workers in the US get paid too.  But the catch is that if you don’t work in the US there is aide.  In NK if you don’t work there are internment camps and gulags for you to work for the state for free.  Usually that work is to hurry up and die.

So John Lewis isn’t better than anyone else.   Okaaaay.  We know that.  He may have through experience have gained insight and perspective that makes him worthy of a listen.  Is he better?  No, just older and wiser, hopefully.  He’s got something called “Value Added”. Also, he’s probably less smelly too.

Also, just a note for all these “this is what democracy looks like” people, pure democracy is a failure every time it’s tried in groups larger than five.  There is a reason we are a Republic.  That would take reading, understanding, thought to comprehend.

Their list of demands is childish and simplistically stupid.  They seem to expect everyone else to pay for their fantasy life in imaginary no-borders land.  Good luck with that.

Stop changing stuff every month.  My father tries to use Facebook to stay in touch with his big family.  He’s already struggling with the whole computer thing, he’s 82, it’s not his favorite.

But you Facebook idiots are making it too difficult for him to keep up with all the changes.  He doesn’t have time to get used to the last changes before you are rearranging everything.

I’m about to quit you.  You and Netflix.  STOP IT!!!  Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

Maybe it’s because I live in DC I’m inundated endlessly with lobbyists efforts to influence the Congress.  Needless to say, ALL the time with the nonstop creepy commercials with the serious music and the declarations of doom descending if this or that bill is passed/not passed.  Relentless.  And deeply annoying.

And then this advert started running.  I HATE this stuff, but this ad in particular make me very, very ragey in a white hot heat of 10,000 suns hatey hate.  This ad pisses me off.  With the out of side suffering infant coughing and gagging and struggling to breathe, this makes me angry.

Just not the way the advert wants me to be angry.  I HATE the manipulation in this ad.  I hate it.  There is no science in this ad, what exactly is it we are supposed to prevent? Who wants to poison babies? ARGH!!!! This ad just wants to make you upset about sick babies, left unable to think straight.  This is propaganda.

Okay, I feel better.

NY 9 is a district that hasn’t sent a Republican to Washington since the 1920s.  How was this “difficult”? They have a 3 to 1 advantage in registered voters.  This should have been a cake walk for the Democrats.

Honestly, if NY 9 is difficult I think Scott Brown’s reelection is certain and that we will have a 100% Republican Congress and White House and the Senate will be well on the way.

Anyway, I really hope there was tasty vodka in that kool aide Miz Debbie is drinking, because if she’s sober saying that she has some tickets to buy on the clue bus.  I’m not sure she can afford as many as she needs.

I did turn on the TV and understood right away that someone had declared war on us.  We had been sucker punched.

I watched as the Pentagon was hit.

I knew people in both the World Trade Center in New York and in the Pentagon.

I was driving to work when the first tower fell.  I was at work watching when the second one fell. I left work and went home to be with friends, I was no good to anyone.

Then I learned that another plane had crashed in a field.

Then I learned that my nephew had been born safely, that he was healthy and my sister was well.

That day rolled on for a millennium. As Rudy Gulliani said of the number of dead, it was more than we can bear.

In the ten years since that awful joyful day many things have happened, all of which we have borne.  We have opened multiple fronts on a war on Al Qaida and it’s minions and allies. Many people have died.  I have many more nieces and nephews.  My daughter came of age and is back in my life, now grown and married with children.

September 11th will remain a day to remember an atrocity committed against us.  As December 7th has remained a day that will live in infamy, though fewer people remember the day well.

September 11th is also my nephew’s birthday.  Now I’ve got a new nephew in law who also shares that day.

I will NEVER forget what happened on September 11th, 2001, we would be beyond stupid to attempt to forget that a bunch of madmen burning up with a mad 9th century dream of world domination have attacked us again and again. We forget to our deadly peril.

However, this is just a day. It is good to remember why we are at war. But it is also good to live, celebrate life, enjoy it, cuddle up and suckle it for all it is worth.

The Sunday that followed that horrific Tuesday in 2001 we sang an old hymn that still comforts me and encourages me. As a Christian, I understand that our foe is not just flesh and blood.  We are at war and under attack every day.  That war has been raging since before time.

We’ve got a lovely backyard, there are flowers, gardens and trees.  Over the years we’ve had numerous trees fall in the yard, especially those pesky and brittle Bradford Pears.  Lovely trees, but so brittle they do little other than grow quickly and break.

At the end of our patio is a little circular area that has long been the spot.  It’s nearly always 10 degrees cooler than anywhere else in the yard, thanks in large part to an enormous pine tree we’ve had back there for ages.  It’s been there for 30 + years.

And now, it is no more.

I am deeply thankful that we lost nothing else besides the tree.  The concrete pad is damaged, but it was already cracked and now it’s more cracked.

So far we’ve talked to Comcast, Park & Planning and Liberty Mutual.

The consensus amoung everyone is that we can’t get it off the wires.  However, once it’s down we can deal with it, no problem.  Easy peasy.
